What is the Punjab Bike Scheme?

Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has launched the Punjab Bikes Scheme 2024 for Students. The goal of this program is to distribute 20,000 bikes (19,000 Petrol Bikes and 1,000 Electric Bikes) to students enrolled in degree programs at public or private universities and colleges in Punjab recognized by HEC. Applications are open until April 29, 2024.

The government of Punjab aid of 1 Billion Rupees for this program. Providing the student with financial aid. Students would gain benefits like interest-free loans and the government granting that special reduction in the cost of getting a bike. Freeing up student’s financial resources for textbooks, accommodation, and other things.

Environmental Friendly

This scheme includes 1,000 electric bikes, and promotion the of eco-friendly transportation. Of the 1,000 electric bikes in phase 1 of the application, only five cities would be eligible.

Distribution of Petrol and Electric Bikes?

The Bike Scheme distribution of 20,000 bikes will include 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes. Distribution of 19.000 petrol bikes of which 11,676 were given to male students and 7,324 to female students. However only distribution of 1,000 E-bikes of which 700 were for male students and 300 for female students. In Phase 1, the degree colleges and universities located in five cities (Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi & Lahore) shall be eligible.

Who is eligible for the Punjab Bike Scheme?

This scheme is only for students in Degree Colleges/ Universities recognized by HEC. The other criteria are the following.

• Student must be over 18 years of age.
• Student must have a valid motorcycle Learner’s license OR Driving License.
